A Wishful Thinking: Finding Light at the End of the Tunnel

Finding Light at the End of the Tunnel

Trials and problems are coming and bringing darkness into everybody's lives. No one is immune to difficulties and hardships. This current pandemic that has spread around the globe has brought with it many problems. No one has escaped the uncertainty and change that have occurred in all countries. There will still be a light at the end of the tunnel.

(1) The bright light coming out of the darkness

As people describe near-death experiences (NDEs), they often speak of the bright light coming out of the darkness. Light represents goodness and symbolizes the brightness of hope. The pandemic has caused panic, and as we know it has disrupted normal life. Daily life has changed dramatically as most businesses have been forced to close for a period of time and people are working from home or losing their income earning means. Schools have closed with students studying from home and online. Life has been brought difficulties and even despair. However, there are ways to find light at the end of the tunnel.

Following guidelines to stay safe will help us endure this trial and stay healthy. There are no guarantees that we can avoid the dreaded corona-virus that has swept the world, but without being careless we can do our part. When trials happen, people get frustrated and lash out at others. It is imperative that you control yourself and be understanding for others to find the light in the midst of the darkness.

(2) Keep faith in the future that things will get better

One way of holding on to the light is to keep faith in the future that things will get better. Remember this is going to pass as well, and conditions are expected to improve. Perhaps life will not get back completely as before, and there may be a new normal. However, life will go on, and light will prevail again in the world.

There will always be problems, but no one expected to reach them such situation where the entire economies are basically shut down. Through staying at home orders and social distancing, people have been pushed away from each other. This is unprecedented, and we never have expected this to happen in the world history.

(3) Persevere and keep trying

Some referred to this pandemic as similar to the treatment of Japanese Americans during World War II when people lost their freedom and were placed in camps. It is not exactly the same; these were innocent Americans and immigrants who were persecuted simply because of racial prejudice, war hysteria, and the failure of government leaders to protect citizens and others who did nothing wrong. The people of Japanese ancestry living on the western coast of the continental United States were rounded up like cattle and were placed at fairgrounds and racetracks in horse stalls. They were then sent to camps in remote and desolate areas of the country where they were incarcerated as prisoners for the duration of the war. To that segment of population, those times were extremely dark. Most lost everything they had before being placed in the dreary and dark living conditions.

However, they were eventually able to find the light at the end of the tunnel. They left the camps after the war ended. But for most of those incarcerated, life was still dark; they had little money and were thrown back into a society which still holds a great deal of hatred and racism. Yet they looked for the light at the end of the tunnel, they worked hard and did not give up. Some were unable to recover from the devastating experience, but most found that light and conditions had improved.

In these difficult times, it is necessary to persevere and keep trying. Do not let the dark dominate, and keep looking for the light at the end of the tunnel. Staying the course will help bring back the light.
